Who these terms apply to
These terms govern use of the Pentake application and website, operated by Pentake Limited, company number 17337638, registered in England and Wales, with its registered office at 45 Albemarle Street, 3rd Floor, London, England, W1S 4JL. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we process personal information. Contact asma@pentake.com with questions.
Your account
You must be at least 16 and able to form a binding contract. Keep your account credentials secure and tell us promptly if you believe someone else has access. You are responsible for activity under your account and for providing accurate account information. If you sign in using Google, your use of Google is also subject to its own terms.
The service
Pentake helps you capture lectures and documents, organise materials, generate study resources and revise. Features and availability may change as the product develops. Beta features may change or be withdrawn. We aim to provide a reliable service, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability.
Your content
You retain ownership of the recordings, documents, notes and other materials you upload, and the study materials generated from them. You grant us a limited licence to store, transmit and process this content solely to operate the service for you, including transcription, study generation and sharing you request. You are responsible for having permission to upload materials and record lectures, and for following your institution’s rules and respecting others’ privacy and copyright.
Acceptable use
Do not use Pentake for illegal activity, harassment, fraud or infringement. Do not upload content you are not entitled to use, attempt to access another person’s account, bypass service limits or security controls, distribute malicious code, or interfere with the service. You must not use the service to misrepresent work as your own in breach of academic rules.
AI outputs
Transcripts and AI-generated content may contain errors or omissions. They are study aids and you should check important information against the source material. You remain responsible for your use of outputs. Do not rely on generated content as professional medical, legal or financial advice.
Plans, trials and payment
Paid features require a subscription. The price, billing interval, trial terms and included limits are displayed before checkout. Where offered, a seven-day trial requires a payment method and converts to the selected paid plan unless cancelled before the trial ends. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled. Stripe processes payments. Plan usage limits and available features are those shown when you select your plan.
Cancellation and refunds
You can manage or cancel your subscription through the application’s billing controls. Cancellation stops future renewals; access normally continues until the end of the period already paid for. Cancel a trial before it ends to avoid being charged. Refund requests can be sent to asma@pentake.com. Any statutory cancellation or refund rights you have under applicable consumer law remain unaffected.
Suspension and deletion
We may restrict or suspend access where necessary to prevent abuse, address a security issue or comply with legal obligations. You can delete your account using the application or contact us. Normal account deletion ends access immediately and schedules production account data and study content for purge after 30 days, as described in the Privacy Policy. Keep any copies you need before deleting your account.
Our intellectual property
Pentake’s software, branding and website materials belong to us or our licensors. These terms give you permission to use the service for its intended purpose; they do not transfer ownership of our software or branding.
Liability and consumer rights
To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, loss caused by misuse, or failures outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud or death or personal injury caused by negligence, or reduces your mandatory consumer rights.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms to reflect changes in the service or applicable law. We will communicate material changes through appropriate service channels. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, subject to mandatory protections and rights available to consumers in their country of residence. Contact asma@pentake.com first if you have a concern so we can try to resolve it.
